Instead, the prayer is an invocation that invites the Gods to truly be part of your life, throughout your day. The prayer also asks Them to give you whatever you need each step of the day. You're also, in turn, offering to serve Them and All Our Relations.
Prayer to the Old Gods
what will You send me today,
where are You today?
As the hours progress, help me see You,
help me see where You are,
each step of the day.
Help me see what You have sent me
each moment—to meet that moment.
Have you sent me a tree whispering wisdom with which I can defeat my fears?
Have you sent me the consolation of a friend, if only I risk asking that friend for help?
Have You sent me Your strength
deep inside me to allow me to take that risk?
Have You sent the perfect beauty
of rain at dusk, for no other reason
than that I might experience joy?
Have You sent me pain that it might hone me into a better tool for You,
a better asset to community?
Have You sent me pleasure
that it might nourish me,
making me a better tool for You,
a superior asset for community?
Help me find You today:
that joyful wet, gray dusk,
that risk-taking strength inside me,
that comforting friend,
that wise tree,
you everywhere exactly as You think best, exactly what I need,
and exactly where I am each moment.
Each moment is my home.
My Gods, thank you.
