According to the Old Ways, if any butterflies accidentally cross your path, a divine omen of transformation and change is presented to you, for good or ill. Prophets of the Old Religion used to “translate” butterflies, as signals of Heavenly intervention and upcoming change. The question is, what kind of omen is this.
Moreover, ancient Greeks and Druids believed that sometimes, the butterfly is a disguised human soul, wondering around in a different form, traveling in other realms. Although not exactly a butterfly it certainly looks like it. Moths are creatures of the night. Hence, they often appear in the darkness, living in the shadows. Therefore, they symbolize the great Unknown, where anything is possible. As an omen it acts like the Death card of Tarot – and as the Tarot Card of Death it speaks of liberation, not physical death. On the other hand, a great change is coming.
However, remember that as moths are attracted from the Light, so does your Spirit. You may feel imprisoned by your choices and the way of life.
