The Witch’s door can be many things. You may find many stories and fairytales depicting a witch’s hour or lair which can be identified – right away – by its door. Obviously, the hero recognizes the witch’s house and enters to seek guidance, or is tricked into a deadly trap. Either way, the door is always the first thing ‘a mortal’ notices when approaches a witch in his/her house. It’s not just about the aura, emanating a secret power. Well, most of the times, you can see it clearly that a symbol or a charm, or the color or even what is happening around the door, kinda seems weird, may seem dangerous, may seem really attractive but always otherworldly.
the Witch’s Door in old stories
So, the Witch’s door may be the front door of his/her house but also can be a door through which the witchy power appears and manifests. In most of the stories we know, a door is used. Let’s see some examples:
⭐️ In the story of “Hansel and Gretel,” the door to the witch’s cottage is described as being made of gingerbread and decorated with sugary treats.
⭐️ Also, in the tale of “Snow White,” the evil queen disguises herself as an old hag to offer Snow White a poisoned apple through a door in the castle.
⭐️ Moreover, in the fairytale “Beauty and the Beast,” a mysterious enchantress disguised as an old woman enters the Beast’s castle through a forbidden door, setting off a chain of events.
⭐️ Furthermore, in the story of “Rapunzel,” the witch who holds Rapunzel captive in a tower accesses her through a door at the top of the tower, calling out the famous line “Rapunzel, Rapunzel, let down your hair!”
⭐️ Finally, in the fable of “Rumpelstiltskin,” the imp-like creature who spins straw into gold demands access to the miller’s daughter’s room through a magical door in order to help her with her impossible task.
Well, I know what you are thinking of. These are definitely not good witches. But that’s just how medieval people looked upon witches. They were afraid of the magical power. Also, often they were afraid of women and their inherited magical power. So, this is a time to change that. Shall we?
Witch’s Door as a portal and a barrier:
So you can use the main door of your house to bewitch your home and your living! Excited? That’s the idea. Here we are gonna show how. But first why! By enchanting your door, you consciously invite the energies you want in your house, be it love, affection, healing, abundance, magic… etc. So it’s like feng shui, for witches. Actually feng shui is for witches but you know what I mean. Apart from the earthly powers you invite divine too.
Interestingly, your door can also be a barrier, defending your home and your living from negative energies. The more magic you put into this, the more results you will see for both inviting and banishing modes. Actually, the more you ‘use’ its features, these features multiply.
How to do it – your Witch’s Door:
First steps: declutter
- Start by acknowledging that the door is the frontier, the portal, what defines your house from the outside world. You want to clean it thoroughly. Even if it’s already clean enough do it, with intention. As if you unpack a perfect gift. So, go to your door, dust it off, and maybe clean it with vinegar (or 4 thieves vinegar) and some drops of lavender.
- Make sure you remove all obstacles that may be in front of your door that makes your entrance difficult or the energies you want. You want the entrance to be free of blockages and open like the horizon. As much as possible of course.
Next steps: decorate
- Pick a symbol you want to charge it. You can “inscribe” it with a chalk or even anoint your door with some oil of your desire (like lavender oil for example) depicting the symbol or rune you desire. For example you can anoint or draw with a chalk on your door, a pentacle. It doesn’t even have to be perfect. You can even hand an amulet with a powerful witchy symbol.
- Place even a small crystal right by your door in order to enhance and invite the energies you wish. Clean this crystal regularly. This will help you remember why you’ve put this crystal even in the first place. Speak to the crystal. Tell it what you want from it. You can even call it by a name. So pick a name for this crystal that represents what you want from it.
Now the final step.
Everytime you walk through your door keep asking yourself “am I dreaming?“. This will help you identify the energies of your door, how the magic is going and also help you attune with the power of NOW. So, when you ask yourself “am I dreaming?” you actually force yourself to get back into your body. Next, you actually enhance your mindfulness in your sleep and your waking life.
Remember, you attune with your ‘Witch Door” with is also symbolically the barrier of your human body, reminding you that you are an eternal soul living in a human body, exactly as you are a human living in a house. Passing through your front door reminds you that. This is a very powerful magic trick to enhance your powers and the powers of your door.
